Last night I stopped by the store to grab a couple more bottles of wine for today. The manager and I start talking and I tell him that I am cooking for 35+ people. He asks what time I am starting and I said “early.” “OK, then… you’ll just have to try this “Breakfast Stout” (a double chocolate oats stout with coffee). Since it said that it was for breakfast I just had to have a few while I cooked. Cooked for 6 hours then went for a 2 hr hike in the woods with Annie, who doesn’t like crowds. I am eating in shifts… pacing myself.

Its a very weird time of the year for me. Filled with joy, yet tinged with sadness. Loved-ones lost, yet present at the table… you cann feel them. The sight and smell of cetain foods can instantly propell you back to childhood. Yellow turnips… only ate them 3 times a year… Thanksgiving, Christmas & Easter. Grandma was big on root veggies.

Shopping at this time of the year is always difficult. Eavesdropping on a young couple with a small kid as they figured out how to stretch their cash to feed x number of people… it was their 1st Thankgiving. They seemed like good people.

Oh, how I have so many thanks, so, so many thanks to God, my family & friends & my country. May you all be blessed with health and cheer! Ignite is a warm place.

I just waddled into my computer room hoping that I would log onto the site and find that there is a class tomorrow. No such luck. Ugh, I must have eaten 6,000 calories today. I guess I’ll have to do JohnFit for tomorrow.

  19. Kenia on November 27th, 2009 2:36 am

  20. Brad on November 27th, 2009 2:36 am

    The Sin of Gluttony:

What is it? Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which is required.

Why do you do it? Because you were weaned improperly as an infant.

Your punsihment in Hell will be: You will be force-fed rats, snakes & toads.
