CrossFit IGNITE Barbell Club Circa 1977..

Happy New Years Eve!!!

Wow what a year its been. New friends, new faces , new beginnings, its just been an awesome awesome year. Thank you to everyone who believes in us and stands behind Tina and I with support. Its been a great journey and learning experience. The new year is going to being a ton of fun, filled with new adventures with our “new family”. The amount of people who came out the other night for our engagement celebration was over whelming and we thank and love you all.. Enjoy today’s workout, and tonight reflect on whats is important to you. Please be prepared to “Turn up the intensity” in the new year. We will be doing a Starting Strength hybrid for the next month. Also try and make some goals for the new year. we want to write these on the wall so you can look at them daily and make sure you hit them. 3, 6 and 1 year goals. We don’t need to make resolutions at Ignite. We are better then resolutions. We already work and play hard. It takes an uncommon type of person to train at Ignite. Resolutions are for health clubs and unmotivated people who’s husbands or wives buy them personal training to “get in shape”. Everyone who comes to Ignite made the decision to be a hardcharger, and hardchargers you are. Cheers Ignite athletes you are ALL top notch.

See you all next year.

30 on 15 off 7 rounds of:

  • Dumbell or Kettlebell Thrusters (35 / 20)
  • Sit- ups
  • Squat Holds
  • Pull-ups

P.s If you have an old health club swipe card you dont use anymore because of IGNITE, please bring it in for the “Health Club Cemetery”.

Steve….Will the goals on the wall be individual or group goals? I like the idea. There is so much at Ignite to keep bringing us back day after day:
    1) For starters, the people. That is big. You guys have done a great job of attracting a group of genuinely nice people who are very supportive of one another.
    2) I love coming in to challenge myself with each WOD. I especially love when it is a WOD that we did before and I can go up against my old time. The folders and recording sheets have been key with that.
    3) I love when someone comes to the same class who is about the same as me in terms of results on WOD’s. It always makes class more fun when you are competing not only against yourself, but also a friend.
    4) I like the “levels” sheets. That definitely keeps me motivated.
    5) The Turkish get-up board keeps me going when I am tempted to do the same weight a few too many times in a row.
    6) I am glad to see that a few people are interested in running races and other competitive events. That keeps me working out on days that I can’t make it to Ignite. Even if I just go out and run a mile, I feel like I am preparing for the next race.
    7) And now we have this goals board. A personal goal is to get a muscle up. I’d also like to run a 5K under 20 minutes. And one last goal for good measure – I want to conquer the ‘”beast” this year on the Turkish get-up. My guess is that those last 17 pounds will be the hardest, but I’ll do it!!!!!!!!

    My goals:
    1. Turkish get-up the beast like Dave Boyd.
    2. KB snatch the beast like Bad Brad.
    3. Run as fast as John O.
    4. Have the resilience and spunk of Debs G and M.
    5. Do a muscle-up like Vic.
    6. Improve at crossfit as quickly as Kenia and Nancee.

I will think of a ton more after I finish writing this. It is awesome getting to know and working out with everyone.
    Happy New Year to all!!!
    Randy

Brad can snatch the beast? That could snap his forearm!!!!

  11. Johno on December 31st, 2009 8:46 pm

Oh, and I think we can all agree that Steve’s goal should be to get a new camera. Will someone please donate one to the man!!!!!!!!

As my family and friends can attest, the last couple months of working out at CrossFit have been extremely rewarding. I know that I’m learning tools that I only used to wonder about…like Olympic lifts and the TGU. The people really make it an amazing place to come and challenge myself. And I especially love that there are folks as crazy as I am when it comes to running…

Thanks to everyone who’s made it a great year and I’m looking forward to 2010!

Oh, and if anyone’s interested, there’s a 5K this morning:

Hope to see some of you there…
