Marine Sgt. Christopher Hrbek of Westwood NJ

Marine Sgt. Christopher Hrbek of Westwood NJ

Todays workout is a special one. This workout is in memory of Westwoods son Chris Hrbek. He was a brave soldier and a kind heart. From all the articles we read about him he was nothing less than a selfless hero who put others before himself.  Whether it be on the front line of duty at war, or back home serving his community as a firefighter, He was always ready to lead.  Today when you come to workout don’t think of it as a workout to get in shape, but a celebration of a man who lost his life so people like us can live ours. Our hearts n prayers are with Chris’s family today, with respect and honor, rest in peace.

We will be collecting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project and/or The  Sgt. Christopher R. Hrbek, USMC Scholarship Fund, c/o Pascack Community Bank, 21 Jefferson Avenue, Westwood, NJ 07675

Did I mention that this WOD is going to kick butt?????

As for the rowing, I think we should have a few of these rowing challenges in the year, perhaps adding in some running ones, too. I have a list of incredible races planned for the next year, and I’ll be sure to hit you all up for those.

Brutal workout today and very cold at 6 AM!! but thinking about the reason we are doing it is really motivating. I was dying on the 3rd round doing the push press when I looked up and saw the American flag. Thanks for creating this WOD, Steve and for helping us to honor Sgt Hrbek!

This was brutal!….. I wanted to quit after round 1. Had to start walking some of the 1/4 mile in the second round.. Did everything RX and made sure to do full range reps on all.. Push Press was the rest if that makes any sense..

It does not look like I can make it today as I had planned. I have a cable hanging from my house in the middle of the street and have no idea when Verizon will show up when they say “Between now and 8pm”. I hope the “Chris” workout, and the honor that goes with it, will remain part of Ignite in the future.

Before “someone” tells you that I am a communist and that I hate America, I would like to set the record straight. I am not a communist. I love America. I love all of you. Oh, yes… YOU, too.
I will not make it to the gym tonight for the Hero Memorial WOD.
However, I will make it in tomorrow night, and will do tonight’s workout then with Coach’s approval… followed by Friday’s WOD… so I guess this means that I had better get my arse to the gym for 5:00….
