Haha adam at that point my legs were at the top of their game bc my arms were smoked! Great job today as well! And btw I wanna run as fast as I squat also!!
Vic- kill it today! Well all be thinking about you! Do you and get it done!
“smoked”- crossfit jargon…using it a lot more than I should…but my calves are smoked…i also spent the last hour @sports authority practicing my TGU and tried that 25 lb windmill, success! i guess I couldn’t do it during the KB WOD, because my arms were smoked…
event #1
Vic got 10:49
First place was low 9 min..
he did well
way to go Vic!
Cool!
So, I’ve really been thinking about the nutrition issues and came up with a “Vic XFit Sectionals Recovery for Day 2 Meal”…here goes:
4 tomatoes, chopped
1 red onion, diced
3 carrots, peeled and diced
1 medium zucchini, diced
1 can red beans (dark)
1 can tomato sauce
1.25 lbs of bison shoulder, cubed (you can ask the guys at Whole Foods and even Fairway for this cut)
1/2 lb mushrooms, diced
3-4 fronds of kale, collard greens or chard, chiffonaded (or finely diced)
spices, to taste
Start with the bison. Sautee in a large pot till browned. Remove the meat, pat down with paper towels and use the rendered fat from the meat to start sauteeing the vegetables.
Saute the onion, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms till the carrots soften up and the onions become translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes. Cook for a few more minutes, till the tomatoes soften up a bit.
Rinse the beans and add them. Also add the tomato sauce. I like the following spices, but everyone’s tastes are different:
fresh thyme
oregano
cayenne
sea salt
pepper
cumin (seeds and powder. Can’t have too much cumin)
Reduce the heat. Bring the whole batch to a simmer and add the greens. Simmer till the greens are wilted and serve over a bed of quinoa.
at the end of Day 1 Vic is in 37th place we believe..
that is so awesome 37 out of 120.. way to go..

Well, I survived day one. It was really a cool experience. I gave it all I could and I think I’m actually in 40th place after all the events are done. I did pretty well and was satisfied with my performance. I could have done better but not a whole lot better.
Neil, your double under observation saved my life today. I don’t think that I have the energy to create that meal, but I totally took your advice about the salmon dinner and eating fish in general. I had shashimi for lunch and a quad espresso at starbucks.
Thanks Jeff for coming over today and thanks Tom for hanging.
Tom and I, as former wrestlers, talked about how much easier this stuff was than a wrestling tournament. You don’t have to make weight, but I confess if there was an out of bounds that would stop the clock, like in wrestling, I would have dived for it.
I know everyone at Ignite is incredibly proud of you regardless of whether you win tomorrow…keep it up.
Vic you rock – so much respect for your ability and your motivation!
Great job Vic! Thanks for posting the vid, Jeff. I was yelling from home like it was streaming live! Lots of luck tomorrow!
master vic ,
There is no one in montclair who can out class you .
You are an all around champion.
STAY STRONG .
stay hydrated .
HAVE FUN
PURA VIDA !!!!
Thanks everybody for your encouraging words. I’m having a lot of fun and I’m totally relaxed. I feel really good going into tomorrow.
Marc, I kept a 1:45 pace on the first 1k, so I was off the rower at 3:30. 2nd round more like a 1:50-1:55. Those burpees were way harder than I thought they would be after a hard row. Thanks for all the advice about starting 1/4, 1/2 full. That really helped.
The judges were awesome. They were more like coaches.
I just watched the videos. Thanks Jeff for the post. Vic: awesome! Great intensity. Keep it up!!!
GOOOOOOO VIC
Vic, Amazing is an understatement.
Vic did great in his last WOD. Tom said his time was around 15 minutes. I will try to post a video. Thanks for all of your encouragment to him everyone!
Vic you crazy monster….your amazing and I’m glad to have someone as strong as you to coach me.
Vic you did great! We are proud of you! Balancing hosting a cert and keeping track of you via computer was anxiety driven! Congrats again!
Another great certification today! Forever learning!
Well, after all the dust settled, there were 109 male competitors. 68 of them finished all the wods in the time limit, of those 68, I was 47th overall.
Some of the performances that I saw this weekend were unbelievable! It was a great experience and now I know what I need to do for next year.
Congrats Vic….I wish I could have been there to cheer you on. I’d love to make a pilgrimage to the Crossfit Games someday!
Vic, you did us proud! You are amazing! Cant wait to see the video
