Yeah Katie! Nice jerk! tough wod today.

Any Lost fans out there who care to interpret the final episode for me?

  2. Rich on May 24th, 2010 2:57 pm

    My interpretation:

They all died in the plane crash and the island was Purgatory, or some form of it as they tried to keep it non-denominational. Jacob and the Man in Black were just representative of good and evil battling for the souls of the dead. Seems so simple for such a long investment but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it..

  3. Steve on May 24th, 2010 3:10 pm

    please no lost talk!!

  4. Rich on May 24th, 2010 3:21 pm

    Party pooper!

  5. Katie on May 24th, 2010 3:23 pm

    #1. Thanks Vic.

#2. Finished my 30 days of Paleo. Apparently I am not able to let myself have an inch because then I take a mile. Been going crazy with food since yesterday. It’s not even tasting good but I can’t stop. Someone please get me back on track.

#3. I can not even talk about that LOST episode. That was the absolute biggest cop out I’ve ever seen and the least original ending the writers could have come up with. I understand from a thematic standpoint that the ending was conclusive but in my opinion, the ending negated the relevance of anything else that ever happened on the show/island. Completely disappointed.

And that’s all I’ll say about LOST Steve :)

    1. For those of you disappointed in Lost…(never watched it)…the best ending for a tv series EVER, was the conclusion of HBO’s Six Feet Under..Those who watched that show will probably agree.

    2. Today’s WOD was awesome!!! Although it seems that lately that I am getting closer to meeting Pukey the Clown with every workout…glad to be part of this sick, maniacal cult that is Crossfit Ignite…

    Who am I?….C.F.I.!!!!!!!!

Katie, I’ve had the same problem, but was 100% paleo Sunday and today so far I’ve been good. I woke up Sunday morning and stocked up on paleo food, so I think the fact I shelled out $70 on food for the week helps motivate me to stay on track. And as for Lost, I aggree you you 100%

  10. Katie on May 24th, 2010 4:55 pm

Alright, Nick. If you got it together again so will I. Done with the nonsense. Back on track. :)

  11. Vic on May 24th, 2010 5:39 pm

Don’t read this Steve. Lost talk coming up.

Rich, I was thinking just the opposite. Purgatory was their other life, when they had those funky flash backs that meant they realized they were dead and at peace with themselves. Once they all had those moments in the real world they went to the Interdenominational church (did you see the symbolism in the stained glass window) to wait for each other so they could all enter the bright light together. I think Ben didn’t go in because of his messed up relationship with his daughter. I think the island was real life. The sideways flash was purgatory. I was little disappointed that 1. Dharma initiative was pointless and 2. the smoke monster just stopped showing up.

If I was the writer, when Christian Shephard opened the doors at the end (because the man in black appeared as him in season one), he would have turned into the smoke monster and ate everyone’s souls. But then again I’m a glass half empty kind of guy.

everybody needs to start prefacing their posts with “spoiler alert” when talking about lost.

  13. Katie on May 24th, 2010 6:18 pm

    LOST SPOILER ALERT:

Vic: I think you are correct about what the ending meant. The sideways life was the purgatory. BUT, honestly, that only answers questions from this season. I would have been much more satisfied with an ending that didn’t attempt to be so grandiose and philosophical and instead focused ont he actual show. They just tried to make too big a statement and I think the writers lost track of what made the show so great: the little details.

The Dharma stuff didn’t matter and the whole Jacob/Smoke Monster story line was just dropped. It just seemed like the writers are hiding behind spirituatilty and trying to use that to explain everything when they really don’t have any answers. I wish they had a smaller, more focused ending that centered more around the physical elements of the show instead of just acting like it was only about religious ideals. That was only one piece of the whole thing and everything else was dropped!

Can you tell I am so mad about this ending?

*** This post is LOST free ***

Just wanted to let everyone know this is my first day of trying to go Paleo. They say it’s good to get the word out so people can bug you about it. I must say though, I am hungry right now. I look forward to some helpful hints on Tuesday. Gotta go forage for some nuts now. Peace!

KFJ… you are closer to meeting Pukey the Clown because your numbers and times have been insane.
Wish I could have done todays Wod had gum surgery and they said I have to wait 24 hours…yuck.

Did the CFE workout on the water, and will see u at 5PM class:
    2 x 5mins on, 2 mins off
    5 x 1 min on, 30 sec off.

  17. Brad on May 24th, 2010 8:03 pm

Those squats will likely be the killer for me.

  18. Deb on May 24th, 2010 9:13 pm

KFJ, you did an amazing job this morning. Everyone worked hard and made it through all 5 rounds with great numbers. Cecilia, those squats of yours were like lightning! Lucy, I know missing today must be killing you. Hope your gums are feeling better soon!!

(No spoiler here…) As for the Lost ending….I liked it. I think that they left things unanswered on purpose and people will be talking about it for awhile. That is what Lost writers want! Speculation and discussion, debating…

I heard George the Spartan quoted as saying “What a waste of 6 years.” To which Vic replied “You could have gotten a Doctorate during that time!”

Death WOD today – I think this is the most spent I’ve felt yet at CFI. Good stuff.
