  4. Brad on July 19th, 2010 9:21 pm

Law School? That is GREAT Nick… really really great. When’s the NICK D. going away WOD?

    Nick D. WOD for time
    5 rounds

    10 Deadlifts – 225lb DL
    10 Back Squats – 185lb

and… just because Nick loves burpess so much…. 5 burpess in between rounds.

  5. Nick D on July 19th, 2010 9:36 pm

I wonder if they know about burpees in Florida….

  6. lucy on July 19th, 2010 9:49 pm

First, Nick you look great in the picture, you are very inspirational. Secondly, congrats on law school, what type of law do you want to practice? And lastly, I am definitely in for a celebratory going away WOD for Nick D. Not too fast though we still have time before August 5th.

  7. Nick C on July 19th, 2010 10:00 pm

    Seriously Steve?

14 pistols? Can i do Pushups as my Modification?

    -Cherry Picking Spyder

  8. Chris B on July 19th, 2010 10:07 pm

How would pushups and upper body exercise be a suitable substitute for pistols…put the bottle down nick

  9. john agar on July 19th, 2010 11:50 pm

Wow you too are like a married couple lol. Nick good luck bro with law school. Youve been an inspiration to me.

  10. Johno on July 20th, 2010 12:04 am

Watching people run 200 meters after doing 14 pistols will be worth the price of admission.

Nick, if you don’t mind me asking, how much weight have you lost since coming to Ignite? I missed some months and it looks like you were a different person between times that I saw you.

  11. Stef C. on July 20th, 2010 12:32 am

Nick D. you are one cool mo fo’!!!!!! I’ve been so lucky to WOD with you these past few months and have been inspired by you as well.

I have to say though that you do have a wonderful plank position, and since I do belong to the 6 p.m. CrossFit Intimate group, I can’t help but note that you look freakin hot in this picture!!! Woohoo! Go Nick!

You will be missed my fellow PPQ loving comrade. Go get that degree so you can represent me for my second through fourth divorces.

  12. Christine on July 20th, 2010 7:51 am

Awesome workout this morning!!! Nick, Law School will be a breeze compared to some of our workouts. Nice working out with you this morning!!! I hope to see you at the Nick D. WOD…

  15. Brad on July 20th, 2010 9:58 am

  16. Rich on July 20th, 2010 11:08 am

I just attempted a pistol in my office and ended up on my ass. Is that typical?

  17. Brad on July 20th, 2010 12:11 pm

Yes, very typical… :-) Really gotta lean over your knee…. but keep your foot flat! Takes some flexibility too.

I’ll be scaling this one… you hold onto a band hanging off the pull-up bar.

  18. Marisa on July 20th, 2010 12:53 pm

    :D TY

  19. Steve on July 20th, 2010 12:56 pm

  26. Lili on July 20th, 2010 1:27 pm

Nick D: Great Plank, amazing work! Yes, Celebratory WOD!

Steve: Thanks for the support. Today was a valley, energetically speaking, and it felt good to do those deadlifts.

Note to self: When doing deadlifts in a Met-Con, wear knee socks! ouch.

    Beer! Loves it!

  27. Steve on July 20th, 2010 1:31 pm

Im interested in a chocolate stout.. I had a stoud recently (first time) and felt it was missing something, i saod to myself hey this would really be nice with a hint of chocolate or something..
low and behold, people are way ahead of me..
SO i hear defiant makes a great chocolate stout,
Anyone else have any i should try?

  28. Coop on July 20th, 2010 1:36 pm

I went to Defiant once (actually rode my bike from Westwood!), and I’ve been dying to go back. You can buy growlers there to take a man size jug of their delicious beer home (I’m an IPA fan myself). That’s my dream.

They also serve some unhealthy but comforting food there. So I’m in!

  29. Steve on July 20th, 2010 1:37 pm

Rich loves IPA lol lol lol

  30. Marisa on July 20th, 2010 1:41 pm

This, which I’m bringing tomorrow http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/45/680

Tomorrow night I’m out of practice at 9pm, late again…you guys should all go anyway, I spend too much time there

  31. Brad on July 20th, 2010 2:21 pm

I got my growler from Gingerman in Manhattan. ROAD TRIP!!! They have an unreal number of beers on tap.

For the best local brews, I go to Andy’s Corner Bar in Bogota. They bring in Defiant, and a ton other locals brews for the northeast, california, etc. … and they fill growlers. They also usually have a couple cask beers available… LOVE THOSE!!! right now on tap:

    DEFIANT MUDDY CREEK LAGER
    TROEGS SUNSHINE PILS
    LANCASTER STRAWBERRY WHEAT
    HOEGAARDEN WHIT
    BROOKLYN WEISS
    ERIE RAIL BENDER
    BEACH BUM SUMMER ALE
    BROOKLYN IPA
    MURPHYS STOUT (Love this one!!)

Anyhow, I’m down for a trip to Defiant…

Marissa, thumbs up on the Brooklyn…
I’m really into Black Lagers right now though…. YUM YUM YUM

  32. Brad on July 20th, 2010 2:29 pm

    Stef, Full of Grace.

Taking on challenges one WOD at a time, one round at a time, and if necessary, one rep at a time….

  33. Coop on July 20th, 2010 2:37 pm

Wow Brad that is an awesome list, and I am ashamed I have not heard of this place.

All this beer talk is making me thirsty. It’s ok to drink on the job, right? Right??

  34. Adam on July 20th, 2010 2:39 pm

Brad did you recite all those from memory or are you sitting there right now?

  35. Brad on July 20th, 2010 2:43 pm

    Adam.. haha.

After two beers, my WOD times improve drastically. It’s been my secret weapon for the last 10 months, and I’m finally found out!

Naw… it’s on their blog page:

    http://andyscornerbar.blogspot.com/

They also have a HUGE FRIDGE of bottled beer from around the world. I absolutely love Dunkel Weisse beers as well. (Dunkel = dark)

  36. Brad on July 20th, 2010 2:51 pm

Knarf is always mentioning a place off Rt 17 that has a great selection… can’t remember the name right now.

    KNARF???

  37. Marisa on July 20th, 2010 2:52 pm

    <3 Andy's

Ever been to Bistro 55? Check their list: http://www.southcitygroup.net/pdf/Bistro55_wine.pdf and Wednesday is $4 pint night

  38. Nick C on July 20th, 2010 2:57 pm

    Steve,

Samuel Smith makes somes really good Stout’s. I use to like the Oatmeal Stout, the Taddy Porter is pretty good, think you might like that. It’s sold in 4 pack’s, so its perfect for your 3 beer limit, haha.

    http://www.merchantduvin.com/pages/5_breweries/samsmith.html

Defiant….The sell Beef Jerky!!! I am yet to try it. They also Do BBQ’s on friday’s and saturdays….and im pretty sure they use that good hormone fed beef, haha.

I could go on and on about this topic and blog, but i will stop for now.

    I’m down for Wednesday.

  39. Nick C on July 20th, 2010 3:03 pm

    Brad,

I think the place knarf would be talking about is Firewaters, Its on route 4 east next to the Riverside Plaza.

It has 50 Beers on Tap and over 100 different types of beers.

Its best to get there early, cause the evening crowd is ghetto.

  40. Stef C. on July 20th, 2010 3:06 pm

Brad did you write that message on my blog? Cause if so I am completely grateful for those kind and encouraging words.

Anyways, I love beer!!! Keep it going.

  41. Brad on July 20th, 2010 3:08 pm

Firewaters SUCKS. I hate that place. They never clean out their taps.

  42. Brad on July 20th, 2010 3:09 pm

    Stef G.
    less almond butter, more broccoli.
    :-)

  43. Nick C on July 20th, 2010 3:12 pm

what’s a little tape worm in your beer!

you sound like such a wimp! especially for a man that can do a 135lb barbell tgu!

  44. Nick C on July 20th, 2010 3:13 pm

    The cavemen ate tape worm!

    How non paleo of you!

  45. Brad on July 20th, 2010 3:16 pm

I just have a discerning taste for non-tape worm products…. The last time I had a tape worm infested product, I had to dump the BEAST on the left side.

    It wasn’t pretty!!

  46. Nick C on July 20th, 2010 3:24 pm

Touche…enough of you brad and back to the Beers

Some favorites….I am big into the Summer Brews

    Anchor Steam Summer Ale
    Brooklyn Summer Ale
    Sweaty Betty (pretty good)
    Riverhorse Blonde

And just about every type of hefeweizen.

    Paulaner
    Hoegarden
    Franzikaner

  47. Brad on July 20th, 2010 3:28 pm

    MMmmm… Seasonals….

    September is coming….

    ALMOST TIME FOR OKTOBERFESTS!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!

  48. Chris B on July 20th, 2010 3:29 pm

Nick youll drink anything that will get you drunk who are you kidding

  49. Stef C. on July 20th, 2010 3:42 pm

OK Off the topic of beer but would you all be weirded out if I did this ritual before every WOD:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOjp8M6XH4c

  50. Stef C. on July 20th, 2010 3:56 pm

By the way, I only drink this beer:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtdFRHQwF2I

  51. Lili on July 20th, 2010 3:57 pm

Wow, Stef, I actually got chills watching that. And I would join you. But I’d have to practice by myself first.

Hey, does anyone “like” CrossFit on Facebook? I just saw this on my page: an Adidas as for the CrossFit Games. Also exciting. CrossFit’s going mainstream…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLFunBPgPOo

  52. Marisa on July 20th, 2010 3:58 pm

I could talk about beer all day

    Favorite IPAs:
    Bear Republic Racer 5
    Defiant’s Medusa
Dogfish Head 90 Minute (9% ABV and an outrageous 294 cal/12oz…guilty of having a 4 pack on Saturday)
    Flying Dog Raging Bitch
    Green Flash West Coast
    Russian River Blind Pig
    Russian River Pliny the Elder
    Smuttynose Finest Kind
    Stone Ruination
    Moylan’s Hopsickle

    Others:
    AleSmith Speedway Stout (after dinner)
    Duvel (in summer)
    Westmalle Trappist Tripel
    Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale
    Aying Celebrator Doppelbock (in winter)
    Troegs Nugget Nectar
    Unibroue La Fin Du Monde
    DFH Aprihop
    Yebisu (with sushi)
DFH Palo Santo Marron (with steak)

  53. john agar on July 20th, 2010 4:34 pm

Wow so many beers so little time. My favorite happens to be Bohemia which is mexican. Only available at On the Borders for some reason. Honestly most likely if you put it in front of me I will probably drink it.

  54. Coop on July 20th, 2010 4:36 pm

Has anyone seen the documentary ‘Beer Wars’? Makes you hate the big brewers even more, and features the Dogfish Head owner (who is dreamy).

Marisa – where do you find all these delicious beers? I know Ramsey Liquors has an impressive selection…

  55. Robin on July 20th, 2010 4:44 pm

Loving where the blog is going today – all about beer. Haven’t had much luck finding real beer in NJ – got to take up the suggestiions CFIers are throwing out.
@Marissa/Brad you really know your stuff when it comes to beer.

PS: check us out on beeradvocate.com, search Foodtown Express

  56. Robin on July 20th, 2010 4:51 pm

@Coop – Beer Wars is a good movie for all true beer fans….Sneaky how big breweries will produce “microbrews” price it cheap & make it taste horrible just to turn off the shopper who is looking for real beer & something better. Shady.

  57. Marisa on July 20th, 2010 5:03 pm

Coop – Total Wine in Hackensack and Linwood Wine in Fort Lee. Bottle King in Hillsdale sometimes has good stuff. The west coast exclusives like Russian River/Green Flash I had while in Cali and brought back a bunch with me.

  58. Lili on July 20th, 2010 6:29 pm

Check out Whole Foods in Paramus for beer, too. Good selection of beer, wine and now they carry spirits like tequila so you Paleo folks can make your NorCal Margeritas.

  59. neil on July 20th, 2010 7:58 pm

    Bad ass:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLFunBPgPOo

And Chris is obviously a chalk-a-holic, like me…

Did the CFE WOD today: Max effort: 1 min on, 1 min off; 1 min on, 50 sec off; all the way down to 1 min on, 10 sec off, then back up to 1 min on, 1 min off.

    Better the second time around.

  60. Ashley :-) on July 20th, 2010 8:15 pm

    BEERS!

Gingerman is excellent, but I’ve only been there once when it wasn’t crowded (Halloween). A great local alternative that few people have already mentioned is Andy’s, on Queen Anne Rd in Bogota. They have 9 new beers on tap everynite and a FRIG FULL of delicious selections. And it’s surprisingly calm on Friday nites. I didn’t see anyone mention Midas Touch, it’s in my top 5.

  61. Brad on July 20th, 2010 8:42 pm

I could probably spend an entire day at Gingerman…. At least 1/2 day at Andy’s…. You just order food from the Italian joint next door and they’ll deliver it to your table at Andy’s. NICE!!! Meatball and Mozz…. My fav…

  62. Steve on July 20th, 2010 8:57 pm
