When I finally sat down to write my bio I had a tough time thinking about where to start… I guess for the first time I am able to tell my story the way it should be told… so I decided to start from the beginning. I was not always in a “glorified position” so to say, I actually started working within the fitness realm as a “floor boy,” making $7.00 an hour and just beginning to find my own physical regime, or so I thought. I was to clean the floor from top to bottom. After surviving this for a while my mind began to really tick when I thought about a possible career within the fitness world and I began to focus a lot of my free time studying the body. Personal training quickly became my next goal… and a certification was soon to follow. I then worked at a “health club,” as a personal trainer, implementing all of the workouts I had read about or have seen, completely opposite of what I would do now! I ended up at Parisi’s Athletic clubs, which is a very prestigious athletic training facility where I stayed for 2 years where I learned a ton, and also a lot of WHAT I DIDN’T WANT TO DO. I quickly realized that the corporate structure was not for me. I hated everything about it and I HAD to move on.

I moved to becoming the General Manager of a franchised health club, where I was able to start carving my vision and really start to focus on running things how I believed. This wasn’t so bad being that I was able to run the show within the doors of the club but I still felt something was missing. My passion for the art of training kept bugging me and I still felt that I was not being able to put it into effect. After searching the internet on how I could change the normal training regime, I stumbled upon “CrossFit.” Which soon became my answer to the corporate suicide. There it was, a possibility of doing my own thing, the one thing I truly believed in, an insane but proficiant way of training! The structure was different and there was no cooperate monster upon my shoulders. I am a very strong willed man and I like to do things my way, and it seemed as if Crossfit would be my answer.

I have watched Steve grow in the industry of fitness and sports performance. He embodies both in personal nature and industry knowledge what every client should require of their fitness professional. His background allows him to be well rounded enough to embrace all situations in the training field yet have the ability to touch each client personally. The aptitude to reach the body and minds of clients and still run a business is only capable by a select few in the fitness industry, Steve is one of them.

Kettlebell Adam has been involved in sports and athletics for almost his entire life. Never though has he been involved with such a complete training program like CrossFit. The physical benefits that people gain from CrossFit are very easily seen, but it’s the emotional aspect of CrossFit that Adam loves the best. To watch our athletes push themselves everyday beyond their comfort zone and walk out with such a sense of accomplishment is priceless. It’s an awesome feeling to help someone accomplish a task or skill they previous thought impossible. Adam is a certified CrossFit Level 1 instructor, CrossFit Kettlebell instructor USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, and a National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer.

Lucy Feaster, Bachelors of Science Degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1990, married with three beautiful boys, Washington Township resident. My story with the fitness world began in my late teens, where I would run and dabble with weights. In college I began working at the local gym in the babysitting room, months later I graduated to the floor showing new clients the machines. I spent the next 20 years at Globo gyms, becoming somewhat of a gym rat. Needing a change, in my late 30s I decided to try yoga. I quickly became fascinated with the poses and the ability to quiet the mind while moving to my personal edge using the breath. In 2008 I became a Yoga 200 RYT, teaching beginners, intermediate and power yoga.

I stepped into my first CrossFit Box in November of 2009 with my oldest son John. I immediately connected with the concept and methodology of CrossFit. I thought I was in pretty good shape but my first WOD proved me wrong. Once I got a taste of the intensity, I knew it would be a perfect marriage with my yoga practice. The fitness gains I have made have been tremendous and CrossFit has definitely made me a better mother, wife, friend and athlete. I now have to share all my CF t-shirts because my boys are hooked as well. I love training and sharing my knowledge. But the satisfaction of knowing that I’m helping others get fit and healthier is what motivates me every day! I look forward to sharing my experience as a CrossFit athlete and yoga instructor. Lucy is certified CrossFit Level 1 Instructor USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach and Yoga RYT 200 instructor.

Growing up, athletics wasn’t something readily encouraged in my family. I signed up for track in junior high and found that I enjoyed running as well as general physical fitness and the good things that went along with it: I slept better, looked healthier and overall felt better after a workout. My teenage years were spent running and doing aerobic workouts but as I grew older, those workouts didn’t cut it for me. I tried all kinds of fitness trends and joined a gym that satisfied my desire to exercise for at least an hour straight, using machines and small hand held weights and a spin bike. When my husband told me that I would like CrossFit, I laughed thinking it was more of a “guy thing.” But when he started me on a few sample WODs, I quickly realized that I had never felt this sore in my life after such a short, intense workout. I had to get it into my mind that to be healthy and strong does not mean you need to spend hours in a health club. CrossFit shocked me into the realization that a ten minute workout can leave me strewn out on the pavement and gasping for breath. Soon after joining CrossFit Ignite, I decided to get certified so that I could help other women come to the same realization that I had: there is no better way to get in shape than this and no better place to garner true support and encouragement than at a CrossFit gym like Ignite. Deb is a certified CrossFit Level 1 Instructor and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach.

James DeMaria – “Kung Fu Jim”

Registered Nurse. Thrash Metal Drummer. Kung Fu practitioner. These things are important passions in my life. I have always enjoyed pushing myself physically, and mentally to reach new levels of fitness or accomplishment. When I first walked into Ignite 2 years ago, I was looking to get better conditioned for my kung fu studies, and it immediately felt like home.  I thought “this will be fun!!”…I had no idea that I would get such an intense workout and be part of such an awesome community!! I really enjoy the feeling of coaching, and helping people push themselves beyond what they thought they were capable of. The feeling of watching someone hit a new personal record, or accomplish something they once thought impossible is very rewarding!!!

Since I started CrossFitting 2 years ago, I have been CrossFit Kettlebell Level 1certifed, and USAW Olympic Lifting Coach Level 1 certified, and have earned my teaching certificate and rank of SIFU(teacher)  in Kung Fu. I currently teach traditional root systems of both Northern and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu, and Shuai Jiao Kung Fu, as well as the internal systems of Tai Chi Ch’uan, Baguazhang, Hsing-I Ch’uan. For me, Kung Fu is not about the study of self defense, but the study of motion, and the efficiency of movement.  Crossfit, much like kung fu, requires you to be mindful of your movements, and be in the moment.  It seemed like such a perfect match!! The training knowledge, and instruction that I get at Ignite is second to none, and it is certainly a “school of elite fitness”!! I am honored and humbled to be part of the coaching staff at Ignite and look forward to learning, teaching, and training with all who come through our doors
