When I finally sat down to write my bio I had a tough time thinking about where to start… I guess for the first time I am able to tell my story the way it should be told… so I decided to start from the beginning. I was not always in a “glorified position” so to say, I actually started working within the fitness realm as a “floor boy,” making $7.00 an hour and just beginning to find my own physical regime, or so I thought. I was to clean the floor from top to bottom. After surviving this for a while my mind began to really tick when I thought about a possible career within the fitness world and I began to focus a lot of my free time studying the body. Personal training quickly became my next goal… and a certification was soon to follow. I then worked at a “health club,” as a personal trainer, implementing all of the workouts I had read about or have seen, completely opposite of what I would do now! I ended up at Parisi’s Athletic clubs, which is a very prestigious athletic training facility where I stayed for 2 years where I learned a ton, and also a lot of WHAT I DIDN’T WANT TO DO. I quickly realized that the corporate structure was not for me. I hated everything about it and I HAD to move on.
I moved to becoming the General Manager of a franchised health club, where I was able to start carving my vision and really start to focus on running things how I believed. This wasn’t so bad being that I was able to run the show within the doors of the club but I still felt something was missing. My passion for the art of training kept bugging me and I still felt that I was not being able to put it into effect. After searching the internet on how I could change the normal training regime, I stumbled upon “CrossFit.” Which soon became my answer to the corporate suicide. There it was, a possibility of doing my own thing, the one thing I truly believed in, an insane but proficiant way of training! The structure was different and there was no cooperate monster upon my shoulders. I am a very strong willed man and I like to do things my way, and it seemed as if Crossfit would be my answer.
I have watched Steve grow in the industry of fitness and sports performance. He embodies both in personal nature and industry knowledge what every client should require of their fitness professional. His background allows him to be well rounded enough to embrace all situations in the training field yet have the ability to touch each client personally. The aptitude to reach the body and minds of clients and still run a business is only capable by a select few in the fitness industry, Steve is one of them.
